Together, we can create a strategic plan for your charitable giving.
Akron Community Foundation is where generous families, individuals, companies and nonprofits make charitable dollars go the furthest for the permanent good of our community.
Established in 1955, we are a 501(c)(3) public charity composed of nearly $225 million in assets and over 650 charitable funds begun by people just like you. Those funds, and the gifts that started them, bear the mark of many donors, not just a select few, which differentiates us from a private foundation.
Over time, our fundholders have given nearly $167 million in grants to help vital nonprofits in Summit County (and beyond) collaborate and grow in effectiveness to improve our collective quality of life.
In short, we’re the foundation by the people, for the people.
As a permanent source of funding in the community, we’re focused on growing your philanthropic dollars in perpetuity. Our more than 64 years of prudent spending and long-term investing can make your charitable gifts go further and do more to improve your community.
Since implementing our investment policy statement in 1989, the community foundation has produced favorable long-term returns for our fundholders, largely due to our policy of preserving capital, promoting long-term growth, and minimizing undue risk of our charitable assets.
